On Christmas Eve of 1914, on the Western Front in France during World War I, Scottish, German, and French troops called an informal, and unauthorized, truce. The various front-line soldiers met peacefully in “No Man’s Land” to share a pause in the carnage. Christian Carion’s film dramatizes a rare moment in history as the French, Scottish and German sides partake in an unforgettable event, even though they are aware their superiors will not tolerate the momentary truce.
